Catherine + Dylan

I'm on vacation in Texas all this week, visiting my big brother.... but I'm still editing photos! Photographers don't ever take a vacation, there's always an image out there to be captured! I always have a camera on hand. Always.

Here's what I've been working on: Catherine and Dylan engagement photos at Oaks Park in Portland!

This is Alexander. He's about 13 days old in these pictures and belongs to my good friends Anna and Cody. I'm totally in love with him and since Anny and Cody only have brothers, Xander agreed that I could be his aunt (and personal photographer, of course). His favorite aunt. :-)

Fashion!

Did a "fashion" shoot in studio, my first one! It turned out pretty good and then I had fun playing with different editing styles in Photoshop. My philosophy? No picture should ever NOT be edited. I don't care how good you are or think you are, your photo can always, ALWAYS be better. Even Ansel Adams edited in the darkroom. Trust me.

I couldn't have said it better myself...

I'm still learning how to put into words what it means to me to be a photographer but I found this quote from an brilliant old photographer in a book of his work and thoughts.... and it's perfect.

To take photographs means to recognize simultaneously and within a fraction of a second - both the fact itself and the rigorous organization of visually perceived forms that give it meaning. It is putting one's head, one's eye, and one's heart on the same axis.

~Henri Cartier-Bresson
